Publisher Marleen Marino's Memorial to her Mother

At age 11, I wrote my mother this poem:

What is a Mother?

A mother is someone who means more to you,

then an ice cream or chocolate cake

She’s the prettiest lady you’ll ever see,

and the kindest and loyalist too.

In trouble a mother is good to lean on

or ask to give advice,

she’s the most helpful lady in all the world

And you’ll love her the rest of your life.

A mother is there when ever you need her

To love and be true and always believe you,

I love you mother as much as I can,

And our friendship will never end

in good or in bad.

The words I wrote then, and the feelings I felt, have not changed throughout the years. My mother was the kindest; most loving person I have ever known. Anyone who met her was instantly taken with her warm heart and gentle soul. I know how much she loved and missed my dad; her “one true love”, but now she has finally reunited with him and all the other loved ones that have passed before them.

I ask our G-d in heaven to take my mother into his heart and bless her, and may my mother rest in peace.
