Love Is In The Air…

Mmmm…can you smell it? Chocolate, roses, perfume, longing with just a hint of heartache. And what better place to get close to someone you love—or just met—than on the steamy dance floor of one of Vegas' hottest nightclubs! Party Girl, February may be the shortest month of the year but that is no excuse to let it pass you by unnoticed and uncelebrated. This month, as Vegas moves into an early Spring, and in addition to Valentine's Day, be prepared to celebrate something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue!

Valentine's Day Observed

Only in Vegas can you spend a whole week celebrating a holiday that by its very nature is meant to elicit a romantic response in males of the species only one day out of 365. Only in Vegas do we push the envelope and demand five more days.

On Saturday, February 11th, the MGM presents two ways to impress your lover. First "Follow Your Heart" to Studio 54 where complimentary champagne, chocolate-dipped strawberries and roses await your schmoopy. And it's just a quick trip through the casino for the same star treatment at Tabu, where they pledge to "Make Your Dreams Come True" starting with an exclusive performance by the ladies of La Femme who almost never perform outside of their theater!

Sunday the 12th, the Hard Rock offers up School Girls in Loves Jones Lingerie at Body English with DJs Vice and Dig Dug spinning you into a love-frenzy. Monday, you can "Be My Valentine" at the Foundation Room where Godspeed Mondays presents DJ Frank Richards. Tuesday the 14th you can celebrate (or commiserate) Valentines Day with DJ AM and his guest host, the lovely Cindy Margolis. Listen up you desperate Desperate Housewives fans: Nicollette Sheridan will perform a twenty minute set with the Pussy Cat Dolls in their namesake lounge at Pure at midnight! On Wednesday, Cindy Margolis—"the world's most downloaded woman"—will make a repeat appearance at Tangerine. Thursday February 16th, Rain plays host to the Playboy Playmates' DVD Calendar Collection 2000–2005 release party. Phew.

What kills me about many of these parties it that the main attraction is a hot female. Why should I let my boyfriend bring me to a club so he can gawk at a pin-up? I wouldn't drag him to see the Chippendales for Valentine's Day! So maybe what we need is something we can do TOGETHER?! What a concept…

Party Girl, take control. The hilarious and heartwarming New York institution, "Love Bites!" will be making its way to Las Vegas on Tuesday, February 14th, at Empire Ballroom from 8:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. Presented by Roxy Industries and The Link, the evening will include some of Vegas' nightlife scene's best known characters performing in an often hilarious display of cheesy love songs and power ballads… and all for a great cause. Featured performers will include nightlife fixture Mike Snedegar, reality-show celebutant Yvette Brown, DJ Michael Toast, VegasClubScene.com's Ducky Slaughter, The Link's own Joel Jarvis, rock 'n' roll concierge Korby, and many more. A $10 minimum donation will be collected at the door to benefit the American Heart Association. To RSVP for this event, email me by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14th.

And now for…SOMETHING OLD
Ten years ago, nightlife gurus Gino Lopinto and Aaron Britt opened Utopia, a natural wonder of the nightlife world. Ten years later, Lopinto and partner Michael Fuller will bring back the "movement" and the concept that was Utopia to the Voodoo Lounge, Ice, and Empire Ballroom. "This was an era before bottle service, talent wranglers, and a couch being defined as real estate. This was an era of idealism, creative freedom, and above all else this was an era of the DJ." Clear your schedule and prepare for three nights of heavy-duty partying beginning Thursday, February 16th at Voodoo Lounge when Soundbar will present DJs Sneak and Keith Evan. On Friday, start out at Ice for a performance by Superstar DJ Keoki from 10:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and then journey over to Empire Ballroom from 3:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for Late Night Empire with Paul Oakenfold! Yes, THE Paul Oakenfold. And as if that could be topped, return once again on Saturday February 18th to Empire Ballroom where from 10:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. Utopia's ten year anny will be celebrated with Rabbit In The Moon, Electric Skychurch, DJ Doc Martin, and local DJs Frank Richards, Robert Oleysyck, Michael Fuller, and DJ Shoe. You might want to hit the gym and get your errands done before the weekend gets going.

SOMETHING NEW
Just in time for Valentine's Day, The Cupcakery, a boutique bakery specializing in beautiful and delicious cupcake creations, is now open and serving "…the best little cupcakes in Vegas!" The Cupcakery features 11 signature flavors, which are baked fresh daily. Founded by the "Cupcake Girls," as they've become known around town, the Cupcakery came into being when the trio left their corporate jobs in the gaming industry to pursue their mutual passion for baking and decorating these fabulous treats. These ladies not only know how to bake cupcakes, but they believe that every person who walks in their door should leave with a cupcake in their hand and a smile on their face. The Cupcakery is located at 9680 S. Eastern Avenue, Suite 100, in the Silverado Plaza and is open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., and is closed Sunday and major holidays. To place your order call 702-207-2253.

SOMETHING BORROWED
Beacher's Madhouse is a red carpet, celebrity-packed all-star, filmed comedy/variety show which has the atmosphere of a circus and the energy of a nightclub. It's "Kings of Comedy" meets "Girls Gone Wild." This month, Beacher has been borrowed and he's taking his show on the road twice! Following their premiere on Saturday, February 4th, the Madhouse gang will stop by Seamless Ultralounge for their official Grand Opening party with DJs Hollywood and Anthony Mundy. Then, on Friday, February 10th, Beacher will recreate his one-of-a-kind show at Mansion Nightclub in Miami for Ocean Drive Magazine's Anniversary Party. To purchase your tickets, call Chad at the Madhouse at 702-699-7844 and tell him "The Circuit sent me." Shows are February 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th, and March 4th, 11th, 19th, and 25th.

SOMETHING BLUE
Not blue per se, but certainly the Stratosphere Tower stretches far up into the blue and has recently completed the transformation of the Top of the World Lounge into a stylish new lounge experience called Romance at Top of the World. The new lounge features elegant décor, bottle service, upscale drinks, live jazz, and unsurpassed views of the valley. The Top of the World Lounge was completely remodeled with all areas, including the bar, designed to maximize the breathtaking views. There is no cover charge, and check-in is at the Top of the World podium located at the base of the Tower. Romance is open daily from 4:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. For more information or table reservations, call 702-380-7764.

February is a short month, and will be gone before you can say "Ketel One, straight-up, bone-dry, very dirty" so start planning ahead. March will bring with it South By Southwest and the Winter Music Conference—both of which will have a big Vegas presence this year—not to mention a bevy of new parties, new promotions, and new opportunities to socialize in style!
