It seems the entire world has found the city of Las Vegas if measured by our growth rate, yet finding one's way through the permit application or the development proposal process can be daunting. To serve our residents and developers, the city of Las Vegas' Development Services Center (DSC) has published the "Summary Brochure." Whether one wants to make an improvement to a single-family residence or move forward with a large mixed-use development project—the Development Services Center is the place to go.

As Las Vegas evolves, our processes and systems must be comprehensive, clear and maneuverable for our citizens. The Development Services Center was established in 1997 as a "one-stop shop" and the new summary brochure is a helpful "road map" that gives the applicant an overview of all the steps along the way. All the contact information for the various divisions involved in the review and approval of the various stages of the process is included. Current and Comprehensive Planning, Building and Safety, Fire, Public Works Development Coordination, Land Development and Engineering Planning are all housed at the Development Services Center.

The brochure also includes the Development Review Flow Chart, which gives an "at-a-glance" review of the city's full development process. The brochure is available on the city of Las Vegas website at www.lasvegasnevada.gov in both English and Spanish. Copies are also available at the front counter of the Development Services Center.

Following the recommendation of a recent organizational management study, the brochure will soon be followed by the Development Review Handbook and Application Guide which will provide all the forms and instructions that one needs to complete the entire development review process.

The Development Services Center strives to improve customer service and the new brochure and the upcoming Handbook will enhance the understanding and knowledge of how one navigates the development process.
