CELEBRITIES CELEBRATE JET OPENING
|

|
Jet, the new ultra-designed club at the Mirage had their grand
opening on Saturday. Some of the celebrities which celebrated in
grand style were Leonardo DiCaprio, Paris Hilton, Nikky
Hilton, Enrique Iglesis, Kevin Connally and Shannon
Elizabeth just to mention a few. |
 |
Jet is a slick
ultra-fashion club with three areas. The main club area, where there is
a VIP dance area overlooking the dance floor, a front room area where
people can get intimate in their conversations, and another dance room
in the back.

In fact, on
their soft opening I spoke with Jeff Mayweather, Jr. and asked
him why he wouldn’t fight Antonio Margarito, who by the way is
fighting Manuel Gomez for the World Welterweight title on Feb. 18th at the Aladdin. Mayweather said there was not enough money involved. The truth of the matter is there was four million dollars
offered to Mayweather to fight Margarito from Bob
Arum. So apparently Mayweather does not want to fight the
hard-hitting Margarito.
TWIN BROTHERS A WINNING HAND AT TYRST
 |
|
Sye Waits
and his brother Jesse, the director of nightclub VIP
operations at TyrstWynn Las Vegasare two energetic young men who
have put together an 'A' team in what is probably the best nightclub
in the United States. First and foremost is the thirty-foot
waterfalls that catches your eyes as you walk into the club.
Secondly, the club has rich brown furniture and red couches with
brown leather wallpaper among other fixtures, which certainly gives
it that elegant feel. It should, because they spent four million
dollars in revamping the old La Bette Nightclub. Of course, credit
is awarded to Victor Drais for his keen eye and elegant
taste. Drais is the owner of Tyrst and is in partnership with Steve Wynn. You can expect to be reading about a lot of
celebrities which frequent Tyrst on a weekly basis. I'll be on the
scene to report. |
PACQUAIO FIGHT AFTER PARTY
Go Philippines
DeLoreon Entertainment in association with Las Vegas Hollywood Media and
Tropical Hot are presenting an after-fight party for Manny Pacquaio on
January 21st, Saturday, at the Flamingo Hilton Ballroom.
Martin Nievera, one of the more popular stars from the Philippines will
entertain and host the party. Incidentally, if Manny Pacquaio loses to
Erik Morales there will still be an after party. I would dare
say the Pacquaio-Morales fight at the Thomas & Mack Center will mark
probably one of the true historic fights for 2006.
MIAMI TOWERS A PLUS FOR DOWNTOWN
|
Downtown Las Vegas is getting its share of condominiums built. Soho
Towers on Las Vegas Blvd will be the first to open. There is also
Stream Line Towers, which is getting ready to go up. The developers
had to undergo a total revamp on the water and sewage development on
Fremont and surrounding areas before they could start building,
there is a new development group out of Miami, which is planning to
build their first high-rise, Miami Towers, as it is appropriately
called. It is a fifty-story building which has three condo floors
which can be rented out on a daily basis when owners leave town
through a management company. |
|

|
It will have
twenty-five floors of condos which will be around 1000 sq. ft. at a cost
of $400,000 for the consumer. According to John Simpson, one of
the development partners from Miami Towers, they are looking to build at
Stewart and Mesquite.
Brain Knaff
with Caldwell Banker and the listing agent for the property said that
there was no question that the future of downtown Las Vegas is well
underway. Miami Towers will also have a shopping area and ten floors
of parking, which will be the first ten floors.
Other developers
on the strip have apparently gotten too greedy, which includes
landowners as well. The price of a condo is costing $1000 per sq. ft.
in the majority of cases. This has caused the banks to turn down loans
for developers. After all, the majority of middle America is finding it
hard to spend $400,000 on a condo. But there are those such as
Slyvester Stallone, Magic Johnson, and the George Clooneys of the world
who can well afford to spend $200,000,000 on a condominium.
But how many of
those individuals are going to invest the money? That is the big
question.
SOUTH COAST CATERS TO HORSE SHOWS
There isn't too much that developers of resorts have not thought of when
it comes to mega resorts. Movie theaters, bowling alleys and shopping
malls that were not available in the '60s and '70s are now a part of
many properties.
However, none of the properties in Las Vegas considered the professional
horsemen. That is until South Coast opened their Equestrian Center this
year. With 1,200 horse stalls that are climate-controlled and a
veterinary clinic, Farrier Center and Feed Store, the South Coast
Equestrian Center is catching the ears of professional horse lovers
throughout the country. Voted as the finest indoor horse facility in
the country, the Equestrian Arena has 4000 oversized seats and
a 270x125 event floor, big enough to host any equestrian event. The
arena features a state-of-the-art sound system and an announcer/judges
area that overlooks the arena. There is also a private reception area
which sits above the arena and can be used for private receptions.
Included in the facilities are cattle pens large enough to house 2000 head of cattle. The arena will also be used for concerts.
Adjacent to the arena is a show secretary's office, judges' lounge, four
show offices, and two dressing rooms. Finally there is 275x100 climate-
controlled warm-up arena just outside the entry gate.

STEVE ROSSI AND LAMONT McLEMORE CHUM IT UP
Comedian Steve Rossi
and Lamont McLemore, the founder and leader of The Fifth
Dimension were chumming it up at a local party here in Las Vegas.
Rossi in his 70's is starring in "Senior Class" at the Palm Springs d'Or
Theatre and McLemore is touring. Both gentlemen are residents of Las
Vegas.
