President Clinton speaks at the Bellagio

On Saturday, Oct. 29th I was fortunate enough to hear President Clinton speak at the Bellagio. I thought I would pass along a few of his more salient thoughts for those of you who saved the $150 and missed him.

Interestingly enough he spoke mostly about the economic problems facing our country and even more specifically the state of Nevada which seemed on point. As we are all aware the global economy is burgeoning and there is no way to stem the tide of growth in countries like China, India, Malaysia, etc. Sadly, bright people live in these places who can and will continue to do the jobs we Americans naively thought we had a monopoly on, for a fraction of the wages.

As a result, work will continue to be outsourced. We can't expect major corporations to not take advantage of said savings. The challenge before us is therefore to create new jobs in order to keep growing our own economy. The President seemed to think that we in Nevada are in a favorable position to take on this challenge. As many of you know, it is of the utmost urgency that we develop alternative fuel sources. This needs to be done for a myriad of reasons not the least of which is saving the environment so that future generation won't be crushed by our shortsightedness. Slowly (all too slowly) we are shifting to wind and solar power as alternatives to burning coal to create electrically. Clinton's point was that in our state we have an abundance of sunshine and a wealth of wind and therefore are in strong position to lead this country in said conversion.

Keeping it brief, there are great entrepreneurial opportunities for those desiring to lead us in this direction. We (or you as the case may be) have the opportunity to lead the way to the "greening" of America while at the same time creating new jobs, drastically reducing the emission of greenhouse gasses, stemming the global warming which is melting the polar icecap at an alarming rate; and ultimately saving our ecosystem. I know of few other endeavors that can line ones pockets while at the same time reducing energy costs (wind and solar over time are infinitely cheaper alternatives). This will free up more disposable income for the consumer and grow our economy.

So do some research; if you're not willing to take the initiative then keep your eyes peeled for emerging companies who are moving in this noble direction and invest in them. Its only common sense that this is and must be the way of the future. Perhaps we needn't worry so much in our lifetimes, but our children and grandchildren will be in desperate straits if we don’t act and act quickly

There's a little off the top.
