A Conversation with

The Legendary Mary Kaye

Mary Kaye of the Mary Kaye Trio is an amazing lady, forever young.  A music legend, with her brother Norman and Frank Ross, became the most famous lounge act in Las Vegas history. Actually, Mary coined the word "Lounge" in the Las Vegas casinos. She suggested they put up a curtain or drape in the bar area to give it a more lounge feeling like the lounges back east.

Mary is from Hawaiian royalty and was a direct descendent of the Queen Liliuokalani, Hawaii’s last reigning Monarch.  With her band, the Mary Kaye Trio, Mary was a very hot property back in 1956.  The Rock ‘n Roll Explosion had just happened and the band had many admirers, among them were, Elvis Presley, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and many, many more.

Mary is planning to record some new tracks and build a world wide record label

The Mary Kaye Trio has been called the greatest act to every play Las Vegas.  Now, in the present, Mary has not slowed down one inch, her energy level is amazing.  Future projects she has planned include concerts with her talented son, Jay Kaye, (a great singer and guitar player like his mom) who is very successful throughout Europe with his own, The Jay Kaye Band.  Mary also has humanitarian projects such as building a diabetic center and a full blown children’s hospital for families that cannot afford services.

As a female guitarist, Mary Kaye was unique and so was the guitar that she played.  In fact, Mary helped this particular model become popular.
