| Mary Kaye of the Mary
Kaye Trio is an amazing lady, forever young. A music legend, with her
brother Norman and Frank Ross, became the most famous lounge act in Las
Vegas history. Actually, Mary coined the word "Lounge" in the Las Vegas
casinos. She suggested they put up a curtain or drape
in the bar area to give it a more
lounge feeling like the lounges back east.
Mary is from Hawaiian
royalty and was a direct descendent of the Queen Liliuokalani, Hawaii’s
last reigning Monarch. With her band, the Mary Kaye Trio, Mary was a
very hot property back in 1956. The Rock ‘n Roll Explosion had
just happened and the band had many admirers, among them were, Elvis
Presley, Sammy Davis Jr., Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra and many, many more. |
