Shalom and welcome to the Jewish community of the Las Vegas valley – the
fastest-growing Jewish community in the United States!
The Las Vegas Jewish community is large and vibrant – between 80,000 and
100,000 – making up about five percent of the population. Jews migrated to
Las Vegas from every state in the United States, Israel, and many other
countries throughout the world. The Jewish presence can be strongly felt in
areas of government (Mayor Oscar Goodman), the media (Danny Greenspun),
business (Art Marshall), the hotel/casino industry (Sheldon G. Adelson),
entertainment (David Brenner) – virtually all areas of our fabulous
community.
Las Vegas is home to 19 synagogues and more than 38 Jewish organizations.
There are three Jewish day schools teaching our children Jewish heritage,
culture and religion.
The Jewish Reporter is the premier Jewish publication in the Las Vegas
valley with a readership of well over 45,000. Published continually since
March 1976, the Jewish Reporter strives to represent Jewish life in the
greater Las Vegas valley by providing the voice to report news, information
and analysis important to Jewish people and the organized Jewish community.
The Jewish Reporter continually strives to enrich, entertain, strengthen
Jewish identity and facilitate participation in Jewish community life. The
Jewish Reporter is published by the United Jewish Community/Jewish
Federation of Las Vegas (UJC/JFLV), a non-profit organization. The United
Jewish Community/Jewish Federation of Las Vegas is the central coordinating
body for fundraising, planning, allocations and communal services for the
Jewish community. A well-established and highly regarded humanitarian
organization, the UJC/JFLV has served the Las Vegas community for three
decades and has raised more than $40 million to support Jewish causes here
in Las Vegas, in Israel and in 60 countries around the world.
