On Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Event Center, before a crowd of 10,362, Rich Franklin of the USA won a unanimous decision over challenger David Loiseau of Canada. The UFC Middleweight bout between both fighters proved to be a tough fight.  The five round bout card read 50-42 twice and 50-43 for Franklin who defended his crown for the second time. It was with sheer determination that Franklin won as his left hand was broken from the second round on. “It’s the first fight where I’ve gone to a decision,” stated Franklin. As opposed to grappling, this fight had a lot of kicking where Loiseau landed his second kick. Franklin on the other hand responded with a kick of his own which showed his dominance in the fight.

Although he missed a lot of shots, Franklin aggressively continued scoring of which he landed a punch then took Loiseau to the mat.

Although Loiseau showed some great kicking power, especially in the fifth round, but Franklin was too strong to overcome. Georges St. Pierre, who always dresses sharp, didn’t look so sharp against UFC Welterweight Champion B.J. Penn as he survived a bloody pounding in the first round, but won the next two. Score cards read 29-28 twice and 28-29 for St. Pierre who earned a rematch against current UFC welterweight king with a win. “I just feel that I probably did more damage,” said Penn, “but he fought well.”
