Oh how could we … When we wrote about the Neon Chefs battle taking place at G2E next month pitting the Bellagio F&B team against the MGM Grand F&B team we forgot to mention one of the judges. Since we’re serving up shout-out’s, a little love to our Hard Rockin buddy, RJ Demman, who got married in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico last week. “Not much American news down here, so keep the good stuff coming,” the high rolling honcho wrote in an email last week, “There’s nothing like sitting on a balcony in Cabo, watching the hurricane roll in and reading the Eye!” Sounds good to us …

The back and forth battle between downtown big wigs and the homeless continues to seesaw.  "There's no question in our minds that as more and more Chinese customers experience Macao, their natural curiosity is going to make them find out what the major leagues are like in Las Vegas," MGM Mirage spokesman Alan Feldman told the Los Angeles Times this past weekend for an article focusing on Las Vegas’ growing ability and interest in catering to Asian high rollers. “There is a very widespread awakening to the value of the Asian market to our tourism-based economy," added Chris Chrystal of the Nevada Commission on Tourism. "They stay longer and they like to spend money." Interesting …

Speaking of the Asian gaming, Palace Station’s ‘Pit 8’ which features Pai Gow Poker, Pai Gow Tiles and Mini Baccarat is known as their Asian gaming pit. Beginning on November 1st, Pit 8 will be the first casino in Las Vegas to offer tableside food service with a traditional noodle menu available everyday from 6pm-midnight. “Casino’s in Asia and card rooms in California provide this service on a regular basis,” said Rich Slack, Vice President of Asian Marketing for Station Casinos. “We are doing this to provide our Pit 8 guests with the best service. They can have the food they enjoy without having to leave the table.” Kind of weird this idea is unveiled at Palace Station but we’re sure casino bosses along the Strip would point out they have provided similar service within their private, high-end gaming salons for years. Palace Station will be the first to take the concept to the public.
