Residents Invited to Attend the Floyd Lamb State Park Master Plan Public Information Meeting
THE CITY OF Las Vegas and Ward 6 Councilman Steven D. Ross encourage residents to participate in the public information process at the upcoming open house meeting about future recreational uses at Floyd Lamb Park. Residents will have an opportunity to view and comment on the preferred alternative for Floyd Lamb Park and the 1,300 acres of land adjacent to the main park area. The entire site is 2,089 acres.
The open house will be held on Monday October 30, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Silverstone Golf Club, Clubhouse Ballroom, located at 8600 Cupp Drive.
"This is the second in a series of open houses that have been scheduled to give residents the opportunity to help plan for the future of Floyd Lamb Park," Councilman Ross said. "It is so important that we work together to preserve the character of the existing park and the surrounding area. I would encourage everyone to come out and learn more about the project and express their views on the proposed plan for the area."
Floyd Lamb Park, located in northwest Las Vegas, is anticipated to be transferred to the city of Las Vegas from the State of Nevada in June 2007. The city of Las Vegas has entered into an agreement with the State of Nevada to accept ownership and responsibility for Floyd Lamb State Park. Preparation of the master plan is a requirement in order to complete the transfer of ownership from the state. The park is located within the 2,089 acres of state and federal land identified for a cultural park area in the city's Northwest Open Space Plan.
The open house meeting is a very interactive session, enabling the public to express their preferences for different options considered for the park. The city has also formed citizen and technical advisory groups to contribute to the planning process.
