First and
foremost, we at Vegas Community Online would like to send our kudos to
Tony Sacca and "Entertainment Las Vegas Style" for their 20th
anniversary.
What a remarkable
feat. BRAVO Tony!
The show began
with Tony singing his theme song "Las Vegas—Greatest Town Around"
accompanied by the "Michael T'" 19-piece orchestra lead by Gary
Anderson...which was first-class all the way!
Tony started
by honoring his identical twin brother, the late Robert Sacca, by
showing clips from their early shows. In those days they seated the
guests on a couch while they sat at desks on either side. More than
once guests remarked that "it fells like watching a ping-pong or
tennis game, with the same player on both sides."
During the show
Tony presented an impressive array of clips from the past twenty years.
Several entertainers joined him onstage to congratulate him and kibitz.
Before each came out, Tony played a clip from their appearances on his
show.
Among the guests
were:
Jerry Tiffe
(appeared on Tony's very first show), Bill Medley (first interviewed in
1988), Rita Rudner, Frank Marino, Bill Acosta and David Brenner.

We'd like to tip
our hats to Jerry Tiffe and Bill Acosta who both came dressed for the
occasion. We guess the other celebrities thought the show was being held
in a mall.
It is clear why
Tony has lasted so long on television. His down-to-earth and friendly
style puts any artist at ease, and unlike a lot of interviewers, who'd
rather hear themselves talk, he listens! Sounds simple...NOT!
The stand-out
performance came from Bill Acosta who sang "As Time Goes By"
while impersonating Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Bill Clinton, Louie
Armstrong and others. What an incredible talent!
Other highlights
included Rita Rudner appearing on stage with her purse on her shoulder,
when asked, she said, "I don't trust anybody backstage."
Later David
Brenner brought a plate on stage telling
the audience
what a great host Tony was. He informed us that the celebrities were
given two stalks of celery, a couple Saltines, three radishes, a piece
of hard candy and an apple for dessert--SOME GREEN ROOM! The show's best
line came from David Brenner as well, he stated, "Tony, you really do
deserve a LOCAL show!" David... you really do have an incredible
wit!
Tony also
performed a song he recently wrote called "Las Vegas Rocks." He
brought on stage three very talented ladies to back him up, Michaelina
Bellemy, Robin Berry and Jennifer Joseph; which are all soloists in
their own right and frankly, were wasted singing background.
Unfortunately
there were several glitches during the production and it seemed the
production management was rather weak. The sound system many times was
almost inaudible, and if we weren't given the lyrics of Tony's new song
in our programs, we would have had no idea what he was singing. Sorry
Tony, but "Las Vegas Rocks" falls short of your theme song,
which in this editor's opinion, is THE best song written and performed
about Las Vegas...ever!
The show might
have been better then we thought, but from our vantage point we really
couldn't tell. We did however learn a lot about camera work, when we
were nearly decapitated by a camera crane.
Regrettably
there were far too many empty seats, including many in front of us. It
was disappointing because Tony has a LOT of friends in Vegas and
deserved a packed house.
Thankfully the
show will be edited for TV, so it will definitely be worth watching, if
for no other reason then to see the wonderful clips that were shown
through out the show.
The show is
scheduled to air starting September 25th.
Again Tony,
congratulations on twenty years of great shows and interviews. We wish
you many more!
