"More room!"

Between Benny Binion, TV, Internet poker, Chris Moneymaker, satellites and the WPT a monster has been created. Over 2770 participates entered the 1st 2006 open event, the $1500 No-Limit Tournament. This thing (WSOP) keeps getting bigger and bigger. They're going to have to use the T & M or Convention Center soon...

If anything else, there will be more room for all games (including side games) and maybe better food and drink facilities! This year's record breaking 2776 entries will surely be topped next year.

On Thursday, Brandon Cantu overcame the other 2775 opponents in the grueling three day $1500 No-Limit Hold-em event that put him $757,839 on the plus side. Play went on for more then 2 1/2 hours at the final table before Carlos "the Matador" Mortensen (the most recognizable name of the final nine) was eliminated. Now Brandon Cantu is well on his way in having his name recognized. See final event standings below.
