"Thinking back...." Part 3 |
|

Thinking back….
I recall one time in those early years of the WSOP... a player in a
$1 & $2 No-Limit on grave left the table to eat and subsequently
went to the pit (to get even?). He was gone over an hour, so they
picked up his chips, cashed him out and put his money in an envelope
in the drawer.
They also did
some rearranging of the room (at that time they used |

the area
near the $1,000,000 display). Upon his return, to his dismay,
not only where his chips gone, but the table he was playing at
as well!
Now that's a bad beat!
Talk about
loosely regulated atmosphere in those days… I remember when Sam
Angel and Nate Blank sat at a empty table in the card room
selling jewelry out of attaché case… could you picture that
today!!!! |

Another
great memory was when Butch P___ came to deal on graveyard
(apparently somewhat high). While dealing the very first hand
in a $5 & $10 No-limit side game with 4 way action (including
the BOSS!)
he scooped
up the cards
immediately after the flop and mucked them before the players
could act. When asked by the boss “Why the HELL did you do
that?” Butch answered “Because I didn’t like the flop!”
Needless to say, that was the end of the tournament for Butch
and the end of a break for the up dealer, me! |
