"5 Minutes with a Legend"

It’s a toss-up as to who has more fun while playing high stakes poker, laughing and talking to other players or even conversing on a cell phone in the middle of a hand while turning over a “monster” Daniel Negranu, Scotty Nguyen or Freddy Deeb (some would say that Mike Caro would fall into this category but with Mike,

all his weird unorthodox behavior is designed not only to keep the table light, but to put his opponents in the land of confusion before he shows them the “nuts”.)

However with Daniel, Scotty and Freddy it’s genuine hee-haw, while staying completely focused. In the case of Freddy, he has come a long way since the early 80’s when this reporter used to play against and deal to him in small and middle limit games in Reno and Lake Tahoe. Freddy has reached the top of his profession playing in the biggest cash and tournaments games all the while keeping it light and loose.

Freddy was born in pre-civil war Lebanon in a refugee camp near Beirut. Good paying jobs in those difficult tomes were hard to come by, but his father worked hard and managed to save enough money to send Freddy to college in America, but Freddie is doing his post graduate work at “Big Slick” University where he maintains a 3.9 grade average, travels the world, is a regular on all televised events all the while supporting his wife and four children.

Freddy has a coveted bracelet, winning the “Deuce to Seven” event in 1996 and has “cashed” many many times in the WSOP. In addition, Freddy has won and cashed in numerous televised events.

Poker aside, I asked Freddy his thoughts on the Middle East situation, Freddy has deep convictions about the Middle East, he states “I believe that things will be worked out, but the sad and unfortunate thing is that so many innocents on both sides have to suffer”.

Finally when asked "You have made it to the final table in a $10,000 buy-in Hold'em event, which nine opponents would you NOT like to see at your table?", after deep thought, Freddy answered, “Chip, Howard Lederer, Bobby Baldwin…” from there he was stuck, stating “There are so many good players…So many!”

Freddy Deed can be found at his preferred cash game or playing in tournaments all over town, the country and the world. He’s the short dark complexioned man behind the tall stack!

Thank you Freddy.
