As Day 2A of the 2006 World Series of Poker begins so does the tension.  During Day 1 there is an occasional scream from some lucky river rat that just made his stack twice the size of his fellow table mates.  But Day 2 brings with it a whole other feel to it.  Day 2 the action is much more intense and all the players feel it.  The pots get bigger and the so do the shouts.

The commissioner of the WSOP announces to everyone that the players have made it to Day 2 which means that they have bested almost 6000 other players.  That means they have survived more people that played in last years World Series. How does that sit on a players mind?  I’m sure for most of these players it doesn’t even cause them to flinch.  They are here for one thing and one thing only.  They are here to win.

What is the list of players starting in Day 2A?  Well, Danny Masterson from “That 70’s Show” is still in, as well as Comedian Andrew Black, Annie Duke, Allen Cunningham, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, John Juanda, David Williams, Barry Greenstein, Johnny Chan, Cyndy Violette, and Phil Ivey, just to name a few.  This time last year it didn’t seem like there were as many pro’s still in it.  Who knows?  Maybe this year is the year a pro wins again. Right now, last year’s winner Joe Hachem is near the top of the stack list with $86,950 in chips.  Can he pull off a back to back championship?

Whoever the winner will be this year, there is one thing for certain. They will be $12 Million richer. Or if they are lucky enough just to make the top 12 they will become an instant millionaire.

So as the waitresses walk around calling “Cocktails, Water, Red Bull!” and the players receive their massages, Day 2A of the World Series of Poker continues taking down one $10,000 entry at a time.
