IN JANUARY VCO'S Frank Marino enjoyed the culinary experience that is Josette's Bistro alone (I was under the weather).
Since then, he has raved about this French bistro, quite often. The other evening, we finally had the time to "Revisit Josette's" and I'm really not sure where to begin to describe this thoroughly enjoyable evening. I guess I can start by saying I haven't had a smile on my face that lasted that long in quite a while
Between the greeting from our vivacious hostess, Frank's last sip of wine and my last spoonful of dessert, Banana Foster, "to die for," the evening was a dining delight.
Josette is a non-stop dynamo, with a warm smile and an incredible French accent (that Frank enjoyed more than anything else) but, the food is what we came for (everything else was a welcome extra) and it was incredible! Especially the most delicious home-made Pâté I have ever tasted in my life!
But no, that wasn't enough. To top off this already extraordinary experience, we had the pleasure of hearing the song stylings of Paul Stubblefield. And I do mean stylings! Paul's voice was smooth and mellow, as was his footwork. He has a vast song repertoire and a knowledge of music that makes his entertaining style even more enjoyable. Paul was backed by a three piece "laid back" combo that included, Curtis Wilson, on drums; Scot Rommer, on piano; and on bass and vocal back-up, Ron George.
It seems on Mondays and Tuesdays, when the quartet performs, many local singers stop by to "belt out" a song or two for the friendly and enthusiastic crowd. During the course of this evening several guest singers were called on stage including a "stand out" by the name of Genevieve, whose beauty was only "out-shined" by her dynamic voice and delivery of "At Last." On Wednesdays at Josette's you can hear the popular Kiki Kalor (see Frank's first review) and Thursdays thru Sundays Randy Thomas performs. We haven't had the pleasure of hearing Randy yet, but I understand he is worth "the price of admission," so to speak. This will give us an excuse to go back to Josette's, as if we need another excuse!
If you enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere, GREAT food and wonderful music at a modest price, then we highly recommend you visit Josette's Bistro.
