Keep Your CoolGet In The Pool!
THEY SAY IT'S a dry heat, Party Girl, but what do they know? They've never watched their crisply pressed linen wilt in a long, (gasp) humid Vegas afternoon in July. For whatever reason, Mother Nature saw fit to give Vegas one of the most humid summers on record. Fortunately for us, this year's pool parties are not restricted to Sundays; some very cool pools are daring to dip their toes into the mid-week!
Sure you've heard of Rehab's wild Sundays. In this, the Hard Rock's third year of gathering the buff and bronzed ones together by the pool, no expense was spared in fixing up the oasis and cabanas for the summer season. Over $2.5M was spent refreshing the rock facades, improving the flow of traffic, and spiffying up the VIP cabanas. But you needn't give up your Sunday brunch or other plans if you can't make it down for Rehab—just Relax on Monday instead! Enjoy the facilities, the cocktails, the music, and the fact that the rest of the world is back at work.
Meanwhile across town Mondays, another party is coasting breezily along at Caesars' Venus Pool Lounge. Within the hidden grove of olive and palm trees, Pure Management Group is bringing a short list of invited guests and industry friends a very special pool event at Venus, an adults-only pool welcoming European (topless) sunbathing. Meditation Mondays plays up the white-on-white cabanas and sharp staff uniforms to its advantage. Guests are pampered in the hours when most are at work with a luxurious, chilled Evian mist, chilled orange slices, cold cucumber compresses for sunbathers' eyes, and even frozen hand towels. Both events are pretty much guaranteed to have you walking into work with a smile that may give away your Monday afternoon whereabouts.
And let's not forget the cocktails! Rehab Sunday is famous for its white, adult-sized sports bottles, complete with top and flexi straw. You can pick up a pink souvenir Tiki bottle on Mondays at Relax with your choice of beverage for only $14.95. At Venus try the signature Mojitosplain and Mango!for $15. If you're lounging on a chaise or a daybed, they'll even make it for you fresh with a cart they have just for that purpose. Your job is merely to sit back, sip and enjoy; time to work on that tan before August, September, and Labor Day Weekend are upon us.
But if you think that going missing on a Monday is a bit too
obvious, then why not Ditch Fridays at the brand new Palms Pool & Bungalows? According to N9NE Group co-owner Scott DeGraff, well over $30M was spent wiping out every remaining vestige of the Skin Pool Lounge. Not that there was anything wrong with the hotel's former pool, but the new slate and glass three-pool complex properly expresses the high-end vibe of the new Fantasy Tower, with its Sky Villas and in the fall, the Playboy Nightclub and Moon Bar way at the top. By the way, Party Girl, you can sign up for a Palms Pool Girl Pass when you arrive at Ditch Fridays.
Once you've frolicked at the pool, Ditched Friday and Relaxed and Meditated on Monday, you're still going to want to hit some nighttime parties, so here's a quick rundown of what's new at night. Tabu has closed the doors on Tuesdays to concentrate their efforts and their crowd on their new It Industry Wednesdays and on the ever-popular Fusion Thursdays. Tao now presents Temple Tuesdays in the Lounge, a party similar to Sutra Wednesdays but with DJs Mark Galeano (Tao New York) and Digital Boy (formerly of Teatro) spinning some very choice House music. And finally, for all you children of the '80s, you can get your fix at Empire Ballroom's Empire Rocks Fridays and Club 80 Proof on Saturdays. On Friday, your favorite rock bands from the '80s perform live, and on Saturday a rotating roster of local DJs including David Christian, Vegas Vibe, Beej, Michael Toast, Shawna V, Stevie See, Dave Guzman, Inferno and Freeze spin '80s and Mashups while you fight for your right to party, dance on the ceiling, and drink $3 cocktails. Local ladies get in free and local men are half-price before midnight.
Rock on, Party Girl, just because you can.
