The Re-emergence

Everyone arrived fashionably late to Industry Shopping Night at Talulah G. Monday night but isn't being fashionable a part of it? No matter. With the trays of bubbly never stopping, the nightclub personalities popped in to mingle, nibble, imbibe, and enjoy the sizeable discounts on clothing by every lady's favorite designers like Lanvin, Chloe, and L.A.M.B. Hosted by Light's Jake Saady and Jet's Jodi Myers the event marked the first of Talulah G.'s industry-focused events. Mark your calendars now for the next event, the first Monday of December, 8 to 10 p.m. Plus, get free admission to Jet after the party.

Tuesday evening found a healthy gathering of some of Vegas' smartest and most beautiful ladies filing into the Wynn's Latour Ballroom for of all things, a movie screening. But laugh not, it was entertaining and all for a good cause Film Aid International. Sponsored by Cartier, Glamour Reel Moments captured three real life stories from Glamour Magazine's readers and brought them to the screen with a little help from some of Hollywood's A-list including Katherine Waterston, Alfred Molina, Bryce Dallas Howard, Robin Wright Penn, Jennifer Aniston, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and Carol Leifer who was on hand to take questions after the short films. The next search is on for 2007's Reel Moments; enter your moment here: http://glamalert.com/reelmoments/main.html. By the way, did you know popcorn pairs with champagne?!

C-Level was still going off when we arrived in Boca Park Wednesday night for the boutique's shopping party, hosted by owner Edith Castillo and featuring the sounds of DJ Michael Toast. We would have been there earlier but for the chocolate box I refused to tear myself from at 3121 Jazz, the new restaurant at the Rio inspired by Prince's 3121 show/club. Martin Stein held his goodbye party at Sierra Gold Friday night. What probably set out to be a one hour stop in to talk old times with good friends turned into a four hour caucus spanning religion, sex, politics, and video games so good they make men cry. Later that night at Indulge at Body English the ladies were lined up to worship at the altar of Charlie Lapson handbags. Next week, though, rather than getting the Indulge is all about giving. Bring two or more canned goods and get free entry! The week after that go back for more when Indulge features Carlos Santana Shoes.

Who says there's no culture in Vegas? Saturday night started out a bit unorthodox with a screening of Shortbus, a racy, explicit but touching (actually, there was quite a bit of touching...) story about many lives intertwined. Beginning in January of 2007, CineVegas will begin screening other independent, underground, foreign and documentary films that wouldn’t normally show in Las Vegas. Not to let things stray to far from the clubs, it was then straight back to the Rio to see Prince perform at 3121. I'll admit, I was skeptical but let me be among the first to say that Prince gave a great performance sprinkled with wit and held together with incredible guitar-playing chops. I've not been a dedicated fan but I think Prince gave fans exactly what they were envisioning when they purchased their tickets, and then some. From the costumes to the sexy ladies we've become so accustomed to in the past, he was more of a host in his house than a mere performer. And the bartenders seemed stoked about the attention the club is once again getting.

Sunday night I happily brought things back to basics with good friends, good music, and good conversation. Alone at The Fray concert at the Joint I wasn't quite ready to join my Emo brethren and sisteren in the corners, weeping meaningfully for no one in particular. Rather, I took in the concert from the floor where I ran into Seamless' Brian Hart, Red Bull's Tony Cordasco, Wingman Dan, and some new friends. They of course played "Over My Head (Cable Car)" and "How To Save A Life" but also my faves "Look After You" and "She Is". It was a docile show, no moshing or dancing but there was a lot of hugging and that's a beautiful thing. Besides, it's hard to rock out when seated at a piano. Beauty Bar had the honor of being the last stop of the week. Four hours of intense conversation fueled by estrogen and loud music turned out to be just what the doctor ordered. Rock: it does a body good!

This week, The Circuit likes Ra Sushi's 2 year anny, The Comedy Festival, the Weekly's 8th anny, and Dorm Days at the Hard Rock.

People Are Saying...

11.13.06

What a girl wants... Handbags, shoes, beauty products, jeans that make our butts look like Jessica Alba's! It's what a girl wants and it's what Indulge Friday's at Body English is serving up weekly. On Friday, November 17th, Indulge will host a holiday canned food drive (free entry with two or more cans plus free champagne for the ladies!) but on Friday, November 24th, Indulge is back in full effect with Carlos Santana Shoes! Ladies, start your engines...

Rok Vegas... It would have been called Rokbar Vegas but thanks to a little trademark matter, a source tells us, that Rok Vegas will join it's cousins in Miami, Hollywood, and New York in July of 2007 (still, I hear there's a bar in Moscow called Rok Vegas). And it would have opened in the early spring had it not been for some permit issues. That and football. All that aside, expect to be vigorously shaking your ass at Rok Vegas come July of 2007, inside the New York New York casino. After construction, the roughly 6,500 square foot space, formerly the cabaret where Rita Rudner performed, will feature the same rock 'n roll feel as its celebrity owners and will even boast a stage for those impromptu performances that we love so much. It has been said as far back as 8/05 (http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2005-08-22-rokbar_x.htm) and as recently as 8/06 (http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/2006/08/24/mashup.html) that Tommy Lee and Dave Navarro (and Paul Oakenfold, at Rok LA) were looking to roll the Rok into Sin City. "I needed a home away from home," Navarro has said of the need for a Rokbar in Hollywood. Perhaps we shall see even more of the star than we, ahem, already have...

Putting House on the Moon!... Witness the launch of Supersonic, the N9NE Group's new house night which will resurface throughout the year spotlighting world-renown house DJs. Supersonic kicks off on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 22nd with Judge Jules, Michael Fuller, and Chris Garcia on deck at Moon, and Justin Hoffman, Five, Mark Stylz in Playboy. before the festivities, check out the Italian Harvest dinner being featured in Nove. Says Michael Fuller, DJ and Corporate Director of Marketing for the N9NE Group, "I am very excited about this." Thanksgiving Eve is traditionally a big night for locals so Supersonic could not have come at a better time. And The Circuit wants to send 50--hello, I said FIFTY--of you to the Moon! The first 25 readers (one lady for each guy, please) to reply to rsvp@thecircuitlv.com with "Supersonic" in the subject heading will be granted guest list privileges for the kickoff of Supersonic! Please include your full name and number of guests.

Don’t put your glow sticks away just yet... Ice is back! Sort of. New Year’s weekend, Empire Ballroom will unveil “Ice Presents Prime Time”, a Friday and Saturday dose of house music filling the pre-afterhours void left by the club’s closing in October. Prime Time will kick off at 11 p.m. beginning on December 29 with DJ Danny Howells and December 30 with Sander Kleinenberg. After the initial weekend, all locals are in free before 2 a.m. and all ladies will be in free all night long, except for uber-exclusive events. At least 10 of Ice’s former team members will be participating in the new partnership from management to go-go dancers and service staff. Further merging the two entities is Empire’s acquisition of all Ice sound and lighting equipment, furniture, and even the 18-foot stripper pole which will make appearances on special nights. I've made a few offer to buy that pole but consulting partner Gino Lopinto assures me "We're putting your name on it!" Being that Ice has won the Club World Award for “Best Sound System” two out of the last three years at the Winter Music Conference, rest assured that Empire is making a sound investment. "Were marketing towards what Ice has created. I want the die-hard Ice fans to feel comfortable," says Lopinto. “House music’s back and it’s gonna stay. It’s a beautiful thing.

Thanks be to the DJ... Holiday time does not by any means have to be a party-less time. Next week is, of course, Thanksgiving so go easy on the turkey or at least have a Red Bull with your yams. Head to Summerlin on Wednesday, November 22nd for Cherry's Butter Ball Thanksgiving Eve party featuring some plump and juicy beats, and "Now with 15% more DJ Skribble!" After the dishes are done and the post-dinner nap has gone down, take your pick or hit all three: Tao hosts the 2nd annual Terminate The Turkey party with free entry and one free drink with the donation of clothes and/or canned goods to Shade Tree Foundation; Light will host its annual Thanksgiving Night bash, The Turkey Drop, though no turkeys will be actually dropped or otherwise harmed in the course of this party; and finally, Tryst is offering up a Thanksgiving Feast party with resident DJ Justin Hoffman where all "Provocative Pilgrims and Enticing Indians in costume are in free!" Happy Turkey Day, kids!

50% of all marriages end in divorce... So why not celebrate! Fresh on the heels of Shanna Moakler's recent divorce party--mentioned in everything from People to TMZ to this humble publication--Light will be making a go of it with the Divorce Party trend. Moakler's event was such a success that they will be offering other women the chance to celebrate a split. Vice President of Marketing Andrew Wintner says he plans to turn the unique phenomenon into a regular event. "We're going to start our own divorce party program. It will be very similar to our wildly successful bachelorette party program except that, instead of helping women celebrate their last day of freedom, we will help them celebrate their first day of freedom." So do you think maybe Britney will be following suit and booking a divorce party of her own? “We will certainly be reaching out to her,” says Wintner before coyly adding “I might have already made a phone call…” KFed will not be receiving such a call; this right of passage will be reserved for the ladies. “We would love to do it if she’s up for it. Everyone deserves a good party!” Can a divorce party for Reese be far behind? Leave it to Vegas to make separation hot.

That's 780 hours of happiness... Spyonvegas.com launched their new promo "Open Bar" this Monday at Stack. The results are in... A staggering 217,102 dance music fans voted in DJ Mag's 2006 Top 100 DJs poll. That's 90,000 more than last year and a true indication that dance music is still a massive global phenomenon. In addition to the Top 100, DJ Magazine is also posting the next 150, revealing in total the top 250 DJs in the world! For the second year in a row, Paul van Dyk will don the mantle of number one, with Armin van Buuren beating out Tiesto for number third, relegating the three-time number one DJ to third place. A special congratulations to Vegas' own Faarsheed who came in in the top 250! Check out the whole shebang here: http://www.djmag.com/top100results_2006_3.
