Where do I
begin? With Chef Ira Gallon, that prepared the best tasting steak
I’ve ever had? Or with our server Gilma, who was one of the most
attentive waitperson ever to serve us (VCO founder Marleen
Marino and I)? or with the courteous management, including our
host Charlie Palmer Group Director of Business Development, Rick
Becker and Beverage Manager Steve Clark?
 |
Our
evening at the Stirling Club at Turnberry Place began with
cocktails in their elegant and very comfortable Lounge. I
ordered the house Merlot and Marleen the house Chardonnay,
neither of us were disappointed. A relaxing half hour later,
with a second round of wine in hand, we tried to find our way to
the casual dining room (I understand there is a formal dining
room on weekends), after appearing lost (which we were) along
appeared Steve Clark to the rescue and showed us the correct
path to our destination.

What
followed in the equally elegant dining room, (I can only imagine
what the formal dining room is like!) was a meal to be
remembered.
I started
with a Calamari appetizer, besides being wonderfully prepared,
the serving was so massive I could of made a meal of that alone.
Marleen’s Crispy Lamb Dumplings with a Star Anise Demi sauce was
as she said "fabulous" and was equally appreciated. For our main
courses, Marleen ordered Roasted Game Hen with Marsalla sauce,
which had just the right amount of seasoning for her taste.
|
But…
the piece d’ resistance was the aforementioned steak. Chef Gallo
must of paid astute attention to Charlie Palmer when learning to
prepare this wonderful Prime New York Strip that was cooked
perfectly to my order, smothered in onions and mushrooms and
topped with a wonderful red wine reduction sauce. My steak was
accompanied by sautéed vegetables and garlic mashed
potatoes…. All I can say is, WOW!!! Again I state, “this
was THE best tasting steak I have ever eaten, and that’s
in over 60 years. |

|
All this was
expertly offered by our server Gilma, a vivacious and friendly
lady from Guatemala that has been with the Stirling Club since
it’s opened, Gilma was assisted by an equally attentive group of
bus persons.
So if you
have the means and the opportunity to join the Stirling Club (I
understand their other amenities are also first class) do
so. Better yet, get on the good side of a member and
invite yourself to accompany them to dinner. You will be in for
the culinary treat of a lifetime…… |
