BEFORE JOHN LENNON was a Beatle, he was an artist. John Lennon's message of peace, hope and love still resonates through his artwork. On the 25th anniversary of his untimely death over 100 pieces of his art including serigraphs, lithographs, copper etchings and aqua tints encompassing the years 19681980 were featured at the Hard Rock Hotel. The internationally acclaimed exhibit is touring the United States.
With today's popularity with dance the LUXOR presents the talents and passions of the world's best dancers in the sizzling dance sensation Burn The Floor featuring a variety of dance styles, including salsa, samba, cha cha, tango and rhumba, all with a sexy, modern edge. The high-energy, 70-minute show has been seen by more than three million people in 32 countries.
Who else but Barry Manilow could salute Dick Clark with a musical number, win an Emmy for "Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program," and then head into arthroscopic surgery on both of his hips? Barry's recovering nicely and will be back headlining at the LAS VEGAS HILTON on November 8.
Tony Bennett, who has more than 100 recordings to his credit and has sold more than 50 million albums world-wide, will headline at the HILTON on Friday and Saturday, October 20 & 21 at 9:00 p.m. The 13-time Grammy winner celebrated his 80th birthday on August 3 and will have a new CD out on September 26, "TONY BENNETT DUETS: An American Classic."
BODIES
The Exhibition at the TROPICANA showcases 21 whole-body specimens and more than 260 organs and partial body specimens. BODIES is now partnering with University Medical Center (UMC) throughout the month of September to honor the 75th anniversary of the only non-profit, public healthcare organization in Las Vegas. The Exhibition are $24 for adults and $16 for children 12 and under. The Exhibition will donate $4 from each full price adult ticket and $2 from each full price child's ticket sold to the hospital.
MonteLago Village will host the Nevada Opera Theatre's "Opera Festival" on Saturday, September 23rd and Sunday, September 24th. The "Opera Festival" will be performed on MonteLago Village's beautiful Floating Stage at the Performance Plaza beginning at 7:30 p.m. The concerts are free to the public. The "Opera Festival" will feature local Las Vegas singers including Dr. Morton I. Hyson (bass), Dan Quintana (baritone) and Stephen Plummer (tenor) as well as the Nevada Opera Theatre's Orchestra and Chorus. In addition to the local talent will be internationally renown Russian soprano Viktoria Kurbatskaya, who starred in the Nevada Opera Theatre's production of "Tosca." Also performing is my own favorite opera star, two-time Grammy nominee Demetra George of Los Angeles, along with popular regional artists Shelley Martinsen and Lance Taubold. Frank Fetta will again conduct the Nevada Opera Theatre Orchestra. Extra special events during the Opera Festival include a pre-opera dinner at The Bistro Zinc at MonteLago Village on Saturday, Sept 23 at 5:30 and a VIP Patron reception after the opening night's performance hosted by patrons Kyrstin and Alex George. Four of Las Vegas' hottest nightclubs are joining together to create a one-stop nightlife party at MANDALAY BAY. On Monday, September 18 beginning at 10:00 p.m. MANDALAY BAY will launch Mandalay Mondaysthe first collaboration between several venues in Las Vegas including the House of Blues' OBA Lounge, Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce, Rumjungle and MiX. On Monday nights, Mandalay Bay will be transformed into a block party in which guests are encouraged to club hop to and from each venue. Visitors, tourists and locals can sign-up and receive a Mandalay Mondays card at each participating venue. The card entitles the holder to VIP line access, complimentary admission and two-for-one bottle service on select liquors. In addition, all ladies will receive complimentary cocktails from 10:00 p.m. until midnight.
