Chuck N. Baker is a multi-talented communicator who is
equally at home in several fields of journalism.
The founder and managing editor of what has become Nevada's
popular military veterans publication (the Veterans
Reporter) Baker has served in numerous editorial positions
at some of the top media companies in Las Vegas including
three years as the editor of the suburban Boulder City News.
From 1989 through 1994 he was the Real Estate Editor of the
Las Vegas Review-Journal. He also served as a commentator
for a top-rated real estate show on KNXT-TV Channel 13; and
was a news reporter and anchor for three years on Las Vegas
ONE all-news television. For many years he produced and
hosted radio shows on KNUU-AM and KKVV-AM in Las Vegas. He
hosted “America’s Veterans” on KTUD-TV (the former UPN
Channel) in Las Vegas, and on KPVT-TV in Pahrump, Nevada. He
also hosted “Through My Lens” on that station, an
interview/talk show. He currently hosts the “Veterans
Reporter Radio Show” on KLAV-AM, and is also a freelance
contributor to numerous local, national and international
publications.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Baker was an editor and
writer for the post newspaper at Fort Riley, Kansas. He
later served in combat in Vietnam with the 1st Infantry
Division where he earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and
the Purple Heart, as well as a promotion to the rank of
Specialist Four (SP/4).
He is the author of three published books including “The
Rockin Fifties”, “A Rock & Roll Scrapbook”, and How
Virtually Anyone Can Buy Real Estate. His most recent book,
“Flowers For Princess Diana” (co-written with Englishman Ian
Jackman) was published in August, 2002. He is also the
writer/producer of the award-winning instructional home
video, Basic Real Estate Investing and is currently
developing several video, documentary and TV projects. Baker
is also a vocalist, musician and a BMI composer, and has
written and recorded many songs over the years.
He attended Wright Jr. College in Chicago, Los Angeles City
College (where he earned an Associate of Arts degree) and
California State University in Los Angeles, as well as
LaSalle School of Law in Chicago, where he earned a Bachelor
of Laws degree. He has also studied television news
reporting at the University of Baltimore and at UCLA.
Baker is a member of the National Association of Real
Estate Editors (of which he is a former director); the
Disabled American Veterans (of which is a former Dept.
Commander); the Veterans of Foreign Wars (of which he is a
former Post Commander); the American Legion; AMVETS;
Military Order of the Purple Heart; Combat Photographers
Association; and is a founding member and past two-term
chairman of the Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission.
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman appointed Baker to the
position of Veterans Liaison on his Kitchen Cabinet during
his first term. Although a Las Vegas resident, Baker
currently serves as an alternate member on the Pahrump,
Nevada’s, Tourism Board. |
