The shining star in our young Las Vegas cultural constellation is the Nevada Ballet Theatre, a beacon for the rest of us who desire high quality artistic expression encouraged by those who can provide significant support in our corporate community, as well as by every member, however small.
The program for this weekend is the most exhilarating, thoroughly professional performance NBT has produced to date. There are performances Friday evening, Saturday afternoon and evening as well as two on Sunday afternoon...plenty of opportunity to catch this fabulously magical mix of movement and music.
Winter is whimsically and lovingly bid farewell in the faux ice skating sequences of Ashtonís Les Patineurs, while spring is welcomed in a fantastically choreographed and danced Fest Polonais, a revival of a classic Steivel work. Then in a complete departure, the entire company reached deep within themselves to meet the challenge of Val Caniparoliís Lambarena. On hand to enhance the companyís preparation was acclaimed Maria Cristina Manosa, who staged this segment. The mix of traditional African music underscored the incredible choreography, which our NBT dancers dished up with incredible force and fluidity. Zeb Nole and Yoomi Lee were particularly spectacular in their special number. The lighting was perfect for the mood of the dance but allowed only a few good shots by this humble photographer.
There is a huge list of reasons for all of you to indulge in this confection of athleticism set to music by our very own local dance company...you will be so happy you did.
