Donny and Marie Osmond: Still America’s Sweethearts

It wasn’t long ago at NATPE 2007 that I spoke with Marie Osmond about a new television show she was planning. However, she did not tell me about opening this year’s stage show with her brother Donny. Well, it was quite a surprise to me to see them at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

The show owes credit, in part, to the vision of impersonator Danny Gans and management’s Chip Lightman for having the vision to bring the successful show to the Flamingo.

Donny and Marie’s show is inspirational and nostalgic. They are still America’s sweethearts, and they certainly strut their stuff while performing some clever dance steps. And I’m sure she learned a lot of those steps when she appeared on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The highlight of the show is definitely Donny and Marie simply singing together. During the show, they show their talents individually. Donny with his slick and hip songs, showing his vocal range; Marie, on the other hand, sings some sultry numbers, as well as songs from the classic genre.

Marie has poise and elegance, and her dress designs are very contemporary yet traditional. She looks fabulous and fit. Perhaps what impressed me most about Marie was her ability to sing opera.

If you’re wondering about the song selections, just go and see the show. There is one show nightly, Tuesday through Saturday, starting at 7:30. Call (702) 733-3111 for more information.

My book of poetry entitled "Messages" was inspired by my dear friends C.J. Cansler along with Victoria Boone and Beryl Warren.

The group of poems along with some beautiful photographs are to inspire the reader.
