La Salsa Cantina

There are certainly many Mexican restaurants in Southern Nevada and one of the best is La Salsa Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood.   It was my friend Schree’s birthday and did we celebrate!  It was one of the best times I ever had and partying at La Salsa Cantina was a big part of the celebration.

First, there is “outdoor” seating where you can people watch in the comfort of a climate controlled mall.  Inspired by the vibrant colors and rich textures of Mexican art and architecture, the décor is a combination of colorful ceramic tile, authentic artwork, and accent lighting with brightly colored tables and chairs.  The exterior design of La Salsa Cantina features a 25-foot-tall illuminated Margarita flask complete with salted rim and a four-foot lime wedge.

Then there is the impeccable service with some of the friendliest staff.  Everyone is having fun and you want to join in the party.  But most importantly La Salsa Cantina offers some of the best Mexican food you will enjoy, freshly prepared made without lard, preservatives, or artificial additives.

The food blends the bold tastes and flavors of Mexico in a variety of unique dishes. Like the United Stations, Mexican cuisine comes from many regions, with dishes inspired by the fresh seafood of Baja, tender steak from the plains of Pueblo, and marinated chicken breast grilled over an open flame from Central Mexico.

Everything is made fresh to order with highest quality proteins, marinated sirloin steak, boneless skinless chicken breast, seasoned fish, and shrimp. The assortment of fresh ingredients, spices and sauces bring out layers of flavors in a variety of classic and contemporary menu items. The sauces are so unique including creamy Baja sauce, a robust Roja sauce, Ancho-Chile sauce, and its famous tangy Chile-Lime dressing.

We ordered starters like the appetizer plate, chips and cheese dip and nachos with both beef and chicken.  Now, I have to tell you that Schree, who is from Delaware, was not too familiar with Mexican cuisine and La Salsa Cantina was a great way to introduce her to some of the best food around.  She discovered burritos, quesadillas, and nachos made with black beans, fresh salsa, guacamole, and shredded beef (no ground beef here).  I created a big fan and I know Schree will be coming back for more.

La Salsa Cantina was voted "Best ‘rita in Vegas” and offers a full bar featuring 40 premium tequilas, specialty rum drinks, wine and a full compliment of Mexican beers. In homage to its signature "Margarita by the Yard", an actual yard-long flask is filled with the award-winning libation.

La Salsa first opened as a chain of Mexican “taquerias,” neighborhood restaurants, in 1979 featuring their specialty of soft tacos, which is so much a part of the Mexican culture. Today, La Salsa owns and operates a chain of quick, casual restaurants including La Salsa Cantina specializing in tacos, burritos and other items served in the style of Mexico. But when you come to La Salsa Cantina, you are not eating on a franchise but are experience a fun, unique place to eat, drink and enjoy.

The hours are Sunday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday - Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 a.m.
