The man accused of assassinating the US President, John F Kennedy, was shot to death in a Dallas police station on November 24, 1963.  Lee Harvey Oswald, a 24-year-old former Marine, was being transferred from police headquarters to the county jail, at the centre of a large crowd of police officers, reporters and camera crews.

Jack Ruby was convicted of the November 24, 1963 murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, two days after Oswald's arrest for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. He successfully appealed his conviction and sentence of death. As a date for his new trial was being set, he took ill and died.
